San Beda’s Ynot proves he is an All-Star with game-sealing block of Green

Going up against Jalen Green and the FilAm Sports-USA, San Beda-Manila knew that they needed to risk life and limb to the Fearless Four of the 2019 Chooks-to-Go/NBTC National Finals.

But with 58.1 seconds left in the contest, Green had willed the Filipino-American teenagers back from 79-85 down to within two.

That’s when 5-foot-11 guard Tony Ynot decided to not let this moment get away from them.

The 18-year-old scored four straight points before swatting away Green’s strong drive to seal the win.

“Ginawa ko lang yung best ko para sa team kasi first time ko din sa NBTC eh,” shared the Grade 11 Red Cub, who finished with 16 points, four rebounds, and two blocks.

“Ginawa ko ang lahat para makarating kami sa Finals.”

Just last week, Ynot was named to Team Hustle to replace Mapua’s Clint Escamis. Certainly, he was surprised with the selection.

But now he believes that he belongs with the country’s best and brightest prospects.

“Di ako makapaniwala. Pero ngayon, opo.”
