Kalei Mau was a cut above the rest in the championship series of the 2019 PSL All-Filipino Conference.
The 6-foot-2 Fil-Hawaiian sensation took the bulk of scoring for the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers under the brightest of lights and on the biggest of stages.
During Game One last Saturday, Mau scintillated with 27 points — all but two coming from the attacks — to power the Cargo Movers’ five-set conquest of Cignal. She then followed it up with 19 markers in Game Two, leading all scorers yet again and lifting F2 Logistics to the title.
Besides delivering a championship for F2 Logistics, Mau also bagged the Most Valuable Player award and the Best Scorer plum.
“I didn’t even think about it, honestly,” admitted Mau, referring to the accolades she obtained. “My teammates were joking about it earlier. I really wanted to just focus on the task at hand.
“Everything that I got afterward, you know, it just all falls into place and it makes me feel so happy.”
And no one was happier to see Mau hoist the elusive hardware than F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus.
For his part, the decorated mentor is beyond grateful to have the services of Mau, whose career was in limbo in the wake of United Volleyball Club’s disbandment three months ago.
“Yun ang pagpapasalamat ko rin sa kanya, kasi sa dami ng team na nag-offer sa kanya, sa F2 siya nagpunta,” bared the chief tactician of De La Salle Lady Spikers.
“[Siya] lang yung kulang ng team para makabalik kami sa ganitong situation.”
