Gaiser bids farewell to UAAP

Senior UP libero Princess Gaiser has played her final UAAP match.

According to Gaiser’s Instagram post, the left knee injury she suffered yesterday against the National University Lady Bulldogs was confirmed to be an ACL tear.

As she is set to undergo a season-ending surgery, the graduating defensive specialist urged her teammates to continue the fight for the program’s first UAAP title.

“The fight is not yet over! My teammates will complete my dreams! I know we can put up a fight because there’s nowhere to go but UP!” Gaiser’s post read.

Known for her effervescence, Gaiser saw the University of the Philippines program turn from perennial cellar-dwellers to Final Four favorites.

In her farewell post, the 22-year old waxed poetic about her numerous sacrifices.SVL13-NU-v-UP-Pia-Geiser-2 Gaiser bids farewell to UAAP News UAAP UP Volleyball - philippine sports news

“I will do everything just to play this sport until I literally couldn’t stand anymore. It hurts me to think that I have left my UAAP volleyball career without meeting my expectations as a player.

“My career comprised of approximately 13 injuries, multiple heartaches, unending battle scars, unexplainable feelings, picture perfect memories….13 years of ball is life and it still drives me crazy! No regrets even with this surprising end! Now its time to close this door and open a new one, “ she closed.

UP are tied at third place with four teams. Struck by another major injury, the Lady Maroons will need to adjust quickly.
