Pogoy slapped with 30k fine for ‘deliberately hitting’ Santos

After numerous reviews, the commissioner’s office of the Philippine Basketball Association has slapped TNT Katropa rookie Roger Pogoy a total of PHP 30,000.00 for deliberately hitting Arwind Santos in the groin.

The incident occurred during Game Two of the Finals series between TNT and the San Miguel Beermen, Friday night.

With 8:36 left in the third frame, Alex Cabagnot converted on an and-one play. Arwind Santos could not stop his momentum, jumping towards the rim. However, Pogoy was trailing behind and was apparently hit by Santos’ behind. The Cebuano went for an apparent low blow to Santos that resulted in his disqualification.

The 6-foot-2 swing man went scoreless in Game Two after finishing with a career-high of 27 points in Game One.

Pogoy chose to stay mum after the game.

The money will go to the PBA players trust fund.
