Phenom-BRT Sumisip replaces Blackwater in PBA 3×3

PBA’s Board of Governors has accepted Blackwater’s decision not to join the league’s 3×3 basketball tournament.

Taking its place is Phenom-BRT Sumisip, which has the same backers as VisMin Super Cup team Basilan Peace Riders.

“The team that will replace Blackwater will be Phenom-BRT Sumisip,” said league vice chairman Bobby Rosales.

Blackwater earlier had requested it not take part in the tournament, citing that sales of cosmetics have taken a hit during the pandemic.

“Badly hit tayo, mga make-up non-essential.”

BRT Sumisip is not a stranger to the PBA nor 3×3 basketball.

Back in 2019, the BRT Sumisip-backed Saint Clare Saints won the Foundation Cup after stunning heavily-favored Marinerong Pilipino.

During that same year, Phenom Basilan won the 2019 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 Patriot’s Cup with a lineup composed of Franky Johnson, Troy Rike, Roosevelt Adams, and import Marcus Hammonds.

BRT Sumisip joins Zamboanga Valientes and Master Sardines as guest teams.
