BENGALURU, India — Barangay Ginebra completed the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup quarterfinal casting by giving Blackwater the boot, 101-96, on Friday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Kings leapt to a strong 33-19 start and led by as many as 20 points, proving to be a cushion good enough to withstand the Bossing’s desperate attempt at coming back late toward clinching the no. 3 spot in Group B.
And by overtaking Phoenix Super LPG in the pool, the crowd darlings have forged a heavyweight best-of-5 showdown with San Miguel Beer, the no. 2 team in Group A, in the quarterfinals that commences Sunday.
Jordan Murphy led Ginebra with 22 points and nine rebounds.
