PFL: Mert Altinoz’s brace lifts Cebu past Kaya in first game on home field

Mert Altinoz made sure to make Cebu’s debut at the Dynamic Herb Sports Complex a memorable one by scoring twice in a 3-2 win over Kaya-Iloilo, Sunday afternoon, in the 2022-2023 Philippines Football League.

The 20-year-old Turkish forward put the ball in the back of the net in the 33rd and 46th minutes to lead Cebu in the contest.

Another Turkish standout, Arda Cinkir, sealed the victory with a goal of his own in the 50th minute.

On the other hand, Robert Lopez Mendy led Kaya with a brace of his own.

The veteran forward volleyed the ball home in the 18th minute and scored once again in the 82nd minute as coach Yu Hoshide’s men flirted with a comeback.

The result means that Cebu returns to the top of the table with 20 points behind six wins, two draws, and one defeat.

On the other hand, Kaya slides to third place with 18 points on the back of six wins and two losses.
