PFL: Arda Cinkir goes goal crazy as Cebu demolishes Mendiola ’91

Turkish forward Arda Cinkir played like a man possessed as he catapulted Dynamic Herb Cebu to a 7-1 trashing of Mendiola 1991 in the 2022-2023 Philippines Football League, Friday night, at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Cinkir scored headers in the fourth and 22nd minutes and finished from close range in the 20th and 36th minutes to help Cebu get a six-goal cushion just before the halftime break.

Aside from the 20-year-old forward, Jason Cordova and Chima Uzoka scored in the 18th and 34th minutes respectively to all but seal the win before the second half can even begin.

Come the second half, Japanese defender Ren Okuda tapped the ball home in the 50th minute to give Cebu its seventh goal of the match.

Mendiola was able to clinch a consolation goal in the 67th minute courtesy of Cameroonian forward Junior Sam’s long-range strike.

The result means that Cebu climbs to second place with 11 points behind three wins, two draws, and one loss.

On the other hand, Mendiola 1991 sits in sixth place with three points on the back of one win and four losses.
