Petro Gazz taints Bali Pure-NU for second QF win

By: Ohmer Bautista

Despite some off-court issues, the Petro Gazz Angels were able to get their acts together, picking up their second win of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Quarterfinals at the expense of erstwhile unblemished Bali Pure-National University Water Defenders, 25-23, 25-18, 25-14, Saturday evening.

Taking the first two sets in convincing fashion, the Angels looked to close out the game in the ensuing set. However, BaliPure fought tooth-and-nail in the third set, grinding it out with Petro Gazz, 7-all.

But the Angels remain composed, uncorking a 15-3 spree to establish a 10 point cushion, 22-11, putting the game away for good.

Fresh off the win, Petro Gazz head coach Jerry Yee still chooses to look ahead with all the improvements that has to be done rather than relishing their morale-boosting victory.

“Well marami pa [kailangan i-improve],” he expressed. “’Yung first ball natin, combinations natin, ‘yung rotation na wala ‘yung imports sa harap.

“Siyempre tatrabahuhin natin,” he added.

Angels import Anastasiia Trach topbilled with 17, whilr Cherry Rose Nunag and Olena Lymareva-Flink added 8 markers apiece for Petro Gazz.

Meanwhile, BaliPure import Janisa Johnson registered 14 markers.
