Northport took Jamie Malonzo as the second overall pick in the 2021 PBA Draft, Sunday afternoon.
Malonzo was welcomed to the Batang Pier by NorthPort governor Eric Arejola, head coach Pido Jarencio, and Season 44 Defensive Player of the Year Sean Anthony.
“I can say that I have prepared myself well and just be an impact on my team early. Just excited about what I can bring,” said Malonzo.
The 6-foot-7 swingman brings his sweet scoring skills to the Batang Pier.
After two years in Highline Community College, Malonzo transferred to Division I school Portland State, where he finally broke out of his shell. He averaged 6.19 points and 3.7 boards in 63 games played.
Malonzo then moved back to his motherland in 2019, playing a one-and-done season with La Salle.
During his only year with the Green Archers, he averaged 15.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.0 steals in 13 games.
The 25-year-old then played for Mighty Sports during its history-making run in the 2020 Dubai Invitationals.
