Pauloxpert says Omega’s Lesley pick in Game Three a viable option against Claude

Omega Esports’ Lesley pick in Game Three has been a hot topic right after the SMART-backed squad’s massive collapse against Bren Esports in the MPL Philippines Season 10 playoffs on Thursday night.

A win away from securing a spot in the upper bracket semifinals, Omega Esports went on an unconventional route and selected the Deadly Sniper in the second phase of the Game Three draft.

The Season Nine grand finalist lost the third game before dropping the next two en route to the loss. This prompted fans to question the selection of Lesley as the likes of Beatrix, Irithel, Clint, and even Karrie were still up on the board at the time.

Chiming in on the controversial pick, Bren Esports assistant coach Paulo “Pauloxpert” Munsayac said that Lesley is indeed a viable pick against Claude as the former can easily erase the latter whenever he goes in for the Blazing Duet.

“Sa mga nakaka-scrim namin at least, Lesley is actually a viable pick against Claude,” Pauloxpert said during the post-match interview.

“So yun yung pinapangtapat nila sa lane kasi kahit mag Wind of Nature (yung Claude) may true damage yung Lesley sa passive e so kahit pumasok yung Claude, minsan nawa-one shot siya sa late game ng Lesley which is viable naman,” he continued.

Pauloxpert’s only problem with Omega Esports’ marksman pick is the timing.

Right after picking Lesley, Bren Esports, who already has Pharsa on Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, nabbed Yu Zhong and Chou as their final picks – both of which are actually great counters against Lesley, who has no escape mechanic aside from Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ chosen battle spell which is the Flicker.

“Ang problema nila nag-Pharsa and Yu Zhong kami so medyo mahirap pumosisyon as Lesley sa backline,” said the former GOSU standout as Kelra finished with a clean 2-0-3 KDA in Game Three.

With the loss, Omega Esports suffered their worst finish (5th-6th) since the acquisition of the Execration roster back in Season Eight. Meanwhile, Bren Esports advanced to the upper bracket semifinals where they will go up against Blacklist International.
