University of Santo Tomas opposite spiker Dimdim Pacres has made a name for herself in the relatively short playing time she received in the UAAP. In two seasons of off-the-bench duties, Pacres has earned a nickname and a strong following with the loyal Golden Tigress’ fans.
Playing in the Premier Volleyball League for the Power Smashers, Pacres has been unleashed, cracking more booms in the re-branded club league. While UST’s head coach Kungfu Reyes uses Pacres as an ace up his sleeve, the Power Smashers coach Nes Pamilar keeps Pacres always in-play, face-up on the table.
The Cebuana has so far averaged nearly 13 points per match, and contributed 12 markers in the Powers Smashers’ most recent triumph over Air Force.
Ako lang naman ‘yung nasa position ko kaya kakailanganin niya talaga ako,” said the 19-year-old Pacres.
If anything, Pacres just wants to play well to repay her legendary coach’s trust in her.
Ayaw kong masayang ‘yun,” the lefty spiker explained.
The goal, for now, is to translate this success to UST.
