If things remain constant until the end of the elimination round, the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball Mythical Team will include three one-and-done student-athletes.
As things stand, UST center Soulemane Chabi Yo and UP foward Kobe Paras are on the All-UAAP team, along with UE guard Rey Suerte (no. 6, 61.5 SP); La Salle small forward Jamie Malonzo (7, 61.5); and Adamson’s Val Chauca (11, 50.71).
Suerte, a product of University of Visayas, is averaging 17.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.6 blocks so far.
Portland State standout Malonzo is norming 16.3 points, 12.5 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, and 1.0 assist. Meanwhile, UC Berkeley alum Chauca ended the round with numbers of 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 0.6 steals.
Unlike in the NCAA, the UAAP’s mythical team is determined per position.
This means that there is little probability that Chabi Yo, Angelo Kouame, and Bright Akhuetie will all be in the All-UAAP team.
