Ever since University of Santo Tomas barred its student-athletes from practicing due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic last March, Mark Nonoy has been back home in his hometown of La Carlota, Negros Occidental.
The 20-year-old guard shared that he and his family have been doing well and are safe.
And he made sure to give back to the brave men and women that are helping him and his neighborhood feel secure.
Last Monday (April 27), the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year paid tribute to the military frontliners and barangay officials of Barangay II (Poblacion) by preparing and distributing hundreds of packed meals.
“Gusto ko lang po talagang makatulong sa kanila dahil sa sacrifices nila para mapanatiling safe sa amin,” the 5-foot-8 guard said.
How was he able to fund this?
Well, Nonoy used his savings, as well as money pooled from his family and friends to make this possible.
“Napag-isipan po kasi naming wala naman kaming masyadong problema sa bahay pagdating sa pagkain, kaya napag-isipan kong itulong na lang namin sa mga frontliners na nagsasakripisyo araw-araw para sa amin,” he expressed.
A little sacrifice for the people who have been making the ultimate sacrifice for them.
