Filipino powerhouse TNC Predator have acquired Southeast Asian Games gold medalists Marvin “Boomy” Rushton and Jun “Bok” Kanehara from Smart Omega Esports, Friday evening.
“We’d like to announce that we are parting ways with the 2 members of our Cebuano squad. Our captain, Marvin ‘Boomy’ Rushton, and our position 3 offlane, Jun ‘Bok’ Kanehara, will no longer be a part of the Omega Esports fam,” read Omega’s statement.
“Their squad has been inseparable since the day they formed their Cebuano roster and through ups and downs, their teamwork and friendship have been undoubted. Their departure will surely bring an impact to our current roster but we will not falter and we will strive even harder to reach the top.”
TNC earlier released hard support Kim “Febby” Yong-min and offlaner Damien “kpii” Chok following a disappointing Season One where they failed to qualify for the ONE Esports Singapore Major after placing fourth in the DPC Southeast Asia upper division.
Febby disclosed on his Youtube channel that TNC is looking to go all-Filipino again after two years.
“TNC back to full Pinoy team? Yes,” he said.
“They want to make an all-Pinoy roster. With the coronavirus, it’s been on their mind for a long time.”
Febby and kpii reportedly struggled with connection issues all throughout their campaign which led to TNC’s downfall.
On the other hand, it will be a tough loss for the Smart-backed squad as they already clinched a spot in the upper division come Season Two after placing second in during the inaugural tournament with a 5-2 card.
Boomy will be reuniting with former Clutch Gamers teammate Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte all while breaking up the Cebuano core of Adroit Esports, which was acquired by Omega Esports for the 2021 DPC season.
TNC is set for a grand comeback in the DPC Season Two Southeast Asia Upper Division.
