Nic Cancio delivers at the buzzer, lifts Pasig past QC in WMPBL thriller

Nic Cancio delivered in the clutch as Pasig escaped 10ACT RK Hoops–Quezon City, 68-67, to notch a bounce-back victory in the 2026 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Trailing 66-67, Cancio scored the game-winning basket inside the paint off an emergency pass from LJ Miranda with 1.4 seconds left, completing a clutch sequence that lifted the Queenpin to a 1-1 record.

“Sabi ko lang sa kanila, I trust them from start to finish. Magkakamali oo, pero alam kong nagtitiwala ako sa kanila kaya nakita niyo ‘yung huling sequence, hindi na sa akin. ‘Yung mga bata na ang naglaro,” said Pasig head coach Kyle Umengan.

Miranda and Princes Ganade chipped in eight and seven points, respectively, while Cancio finished with six points and seven rebounds in the win.

RK Hoops–Quezon City 10ACT nearly stole the game after Stif Larrosa scored on a breakaway layup off a Mikee Antonio steal with nine seconds left, briefly taking control in the closing stretch before Cancio’s game-winner.
