Omega Esports scored a crucial 2-0 sweep against Bren Esports to keep its playoff hopes alive in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, Sunday night.
The victory helped Omega Esports (4-7) force a three-way tie with RSG PH (7-5) and ECHO (5-8) at the number three spot with 16 points each all while snapping Bren Esports’ four-game winning streak.
Omega Esports weathered a strong early game from Bren Esports to take the Game One win on the back of Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ remarkable Alice performance.
With their entire composition built on aggression, Omega Esports shut down CJ “Ribo” Ribo’s Kimmy in the mid-game while also winning a couple of clashes that tipped the scales to their side.
Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog (Jawhead) was named the SMART 5G MVP with two kills, two deaths, and eight assists in the 16-6 Game One win in 12 minutes and 26 seconds.
“Masaya po kami [sa performance ni Raizen] kasi nakuha na namin ulit yung tamang timpla,” said Kelra.
The Smart-backed squad then ran over the reigning world champions in Game Two with Kelra’s Aldous and Dean “Raizen” Sumagui’s Ling crowding Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s Natan all throughout the match.
Kelra, who took the SMART 5G MVP, finished with nine kills and three assists against just one death in the 18-10 win which lasted for 20 minutes and 11 seconds.
For Bren Esports, the tough loss relegated them down to the seventh spot with 14 points off a 5-7 win-loss slate.
Omega Esports looks to make it three wins in a row against TNC on Friday at 8:00 PM while Bren Esports will fight it out against ECHO on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
