Rookie exp laner Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez delivered a pair of MVP performances to lead the way for Minana Evos in a rousing 2-0 debut victory over TNC Pro Team, kickstarting their MPL Philippines Season 13 campaign at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Friday.
According to Minana Coach Douglas “Imbadeejay” Astibe, the team’s experience in scrims paid dividends in a momentum-swinging comeback win in the opener that set the tone for the sweep.
“Sanay po kasi kami sa scrim sa games na nalulugi kami early,” he recalled.
“Since may mga hero kami na pang late example, for example si Clint tsaka si Novaria, kaya kahit malugi kami sa early, okay lang samin basta pag nakuha yung tamang item, makakalaban kami. Tapos maka-comeback,” he the former player continued.
In Game 1, he finished with a score of 3-3-10, proving instrumental in a comeback win highlighted by a 21st-minute skirmish where Minana forced a 3-1 exchange off the lord fight, then executed a successful base turret siege in the midlane to take the opener, 1-0.
Kirk continued his phenomenal play in Game 2 parading the Arlott, sparking a pick-off on Jaylod “Hatred” Gonzales (Vexana) during a 15th-minute base turret siege that served as the series-clinching play.
He once again took MVP honors with a 4-2-3 KDA.
Minana will try to make it back-to-back as they face Blacklist International on Saturday, March 16th.
