Nexplay EVOS saved its best for last.
After missing their first assignment against the same squad, Nexplay EVOS swept ECHO, 2-0, to end the MPL Philippines Season Nine regular season on a winning note, Sunday night.
With the victory, Nexplay EVOS – who capped off the eliminations with 19 points off a 6-8 record – denied ECHO the second seed in the playoffs. ECHO, who now lost three of its last nine games, fell to 8-6 with 26 points
Jeniel “YellyHaze” Bata-anon’s Xavier led Nexplay EVOS’ turn around in Game One, securing a triple kill following a clash near ECHO’s top lane entering the 20th minute.
From there, Nexplay EVOS went straight to the top lane for the death push. Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno (Helcurt) and Frediemar “3MarTzy” Serafico (Thamuz) tried to salvage the win by heading inside Nexplay EVOS’ base. Unfortunately, Reiniel “URESHIII” Logronio (Esmeralda) was there to defend the base.
YellyHaze, who kept the team in the game despite getting beaten up pretty badly in the early game, finished with seven kills and six assists against one death in the tight 17-16 Game One win in 20 minutes and 31 seconds.
Nexplay EVOS, unlike the opener, took the early game by shutting down KarlTzy’s Helcurt. Then, a pickoff on Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s Grock late in the match allowed the team to secure the Luminous Lord and eventually, the win.
URESHIII, who finished the game with a Maniac on Dyroth, had six kills and two assists without a death in the quick 17-5 Game Two win in 14 minutes and six seconds.
