MPL PH: Echo secures playoff spot with sweep Omega for 10th win

Echo is on the verge of making history as they notched their 10th victory in as many matches this season after a 2-0 sweep of Omega in the penultimate week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Friday.

With their streak now at 10, Echo is just one win away from tying the league record of 11 straight wins set by Blacklist International back in Season 7. They continue to lead the standings with 27 points and have secured their place in the playoffs. Another win via a sweep over TNC on the way.

During the series, Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales once again executed Echo’s iconic backdoor, which earned them the SMART Play of the Year in 2022 from the MPL Philippines Press Corps.

“May wave sa mid tapos cinlear ko muna bago ako sumama ulit sa clash. Then narealize ko na si E2max nagflicker in, so super committed na talaga nila sa clash kaya nagdecide ako na direchohin na,” recalled Bennyqt regarding his thought process during the match.

Echo dominated Omega in the opener with a massive 20-4 kill score, led by Game MVP Jaypee “JayPee” Cruz (Mathilda), who posted a 100% kill participation on a 3-0-17 KDA.

He showcased his brilliance with a Circling Eagle outplay on Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Irithel) during the closing moments that capped off a clean 5-0 wipeout.

The defending M4 World Champions continued to pounce on Omega in Game 2 as they completely silenced gold laner Kelra (Brody), limiting him to a paltry 1-5-3 KDA.

Alston “Sanji” Pabico (Kadita) earned MVP honors in the closing game, boasting a 5-1-9 KDA.

Omega currently sits in sixth place with 12 points but has now lost four of their last five matches.
