Echo survived their greatest test so far after laboring through a 2-1 thriller over Onic Philippines to hold on to league leadership in Week 2 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 11 on Saturday.
The Orcas suffered their first-ever game loss this season after back-to-back sweeps against powerhouse teams Blacklist International and Bren Esports. They have scored their third season win to improve 3-0 with eight points to boot.
“Tingin ko prepared din sila (Onic) humarap samin. Ang ganda nung mga ginawa nila samin. Malakas na ang team ng Onic,” bared Echo head coach Harold “Tictac” Reyes.
Echo easily took the opener courtesy of a dominant 13-3 lead in the kill tally, scoring a quick win by the 12th minute.
Alston “Sanji” Pabico once again displayed flexibility in the midlane role as he played superb with the Julian pick en route to a perfect 6-0-2 KDA.
But Onic refused to fold, retaliating in Game 2 thanks to Jefferdson “Kekedot” Mogol’s (Ruby) clutch I’m Offended set-up play in the 14th minute that touched off a 5-1 wipeout for the equalizer, 1-1.
The rubber match went down the wire with Echo needing to clutch a 22nd minute lord fight to secure the objective then successfully zoning out Kekedot (Natalia) in the ensuing play to remain undefeated this season.
Despite battling against to counters on Onic’s composition, Sanji (Pharsa) still delivered a stellar Game 3 performance with a 7-2-4 KD
