Week 10 of the 2017-18 ASEAN Basketball League Season featured plenty of outstanding performance. Leading the pack were two players who trace their roots to the Philippines, as Mikh McKinney and Biboy Enguio were hailed as the Heritage Import and Local Players of the Week.
Filipino-American floor general Mikh McKinney was hailed as the Heritage Import of the Week for helping steer Chong Son Kung Fu to a 2-0 record for the week.
McKinney had 32 points, four rebounds, and six assists during Chong Son’s 96-79 win over the Westsports Malaysia Dragons last January 25. He followed this up with a 15-point, seven-rebound, and two-assist outing against the Formosa Dreamers last January 27.
McKinney’s teammate Caelan Tiongson was a close second in the weekly race, averaging 16.0 points on 49 percent shooting, to go along with 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
For helping end the CLS Knights’ eight-game losing skid, Filipino-Indonesian Biboy Enguio was adjudged the Local Player of the Week.
Enguio scored a career-high 16 points, spiked by four triples, during the Knights’ 105-74 win over the Dreamers last Sunday.
Alab’s Renaldo Balkman was a notable contender in the World Import Player of the Week ladder after picking up a 20-20 during the Philippine sides’ 95-87 win over the Saigon Heat last Sunday.
