Meralco taps ex-Piston Zach Lofton as second import for EASL

Meralco has signed Zach Lofton as its second import for its East Asia Super League campaign, as announced by Lofton’s agency, PSB SPORTS.

Lofton, who is 30 years old, went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft but was later signed by Detroit.

He appeared in one regular season game before concluding the year with the G League squad Grand Rapids.

The 6-foot-4 guard also had a stint with Milwaukee’s Summer League squad in 2019.

Since then, Lofton has played in Germany, Lebanon, and Africa.

In his most recent stint with Al Ahly, he averaged 19.5 points, 3.25 assists, and 2.75 rebounds per contest in the BAL-Qualifiers.

Lofton and Meralco will make their EASL debut on Wednesday against the defending B.League champion Ryukyu in Okinawa.
