MDL PH: Echo secures playoffs spot after sweep of Onic

Echo Proud continued with their rampage in the Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) Philippines Season 1 courtesy of a 2-0 sweep of Onic Arsenals to firm their grip of the top spot in Group B on Thursday.

They now have a league-best 21pts built around a six-game winning streak to improve to 7-2. Onic fell to 3-6 (9pts).

Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar once again took back-to-back MVPs in the dominating sweep, capping off his performance with a triple kill in the dying moments of Game 2.

He finished with 10-0-3 and 8-1-4 KDAs with the Harith pick in both games of the series.

Meanwhile, RSG Ignite took a momentary lead over Blacklist Academy after a tight 2-1 victory over Bren Euphoria Esports.

The Raiders had to rely on John Darry “1rrad” Abarquez’s exploits with the Fanny pick to overwhelm Bren in the do-or-die rubber match. He nabbed the Game 3 MVP citation with an almost perfect 8-1-2 KDA.

Nexplay Evos Tiger Cubs also registered their first back-to-back wins this season after shutting down TNC Neo, 2-0.

They are still in a must-win situation though in the final two weeks of the season with a 4-5 win-loss card (10pts).
