Bren Euphoria Esports eliminated Onic Arsenals from the playoff race after a 2-0 sweep in the final week of the Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) Philippines Season 1 on Wednesday.
Onic Arsenals needed a win to keep their playoff dream alive but Bren goldlaner Carl “Shizou” Valdez denied them after an explosive performance leading to back-to-back MVP citations.
In Game 1, BREU shrugged off a 7-0 kill deficit in the early game then had to rely on Shizou’s (Beatrix) sneaky split push in the 25th minute to take the opener.
Shizou continued with his stellar play, finishing with a perfect 7-0-2 KDA in Game 2 with the Karrie pick to complete the sweep.
Already assured of the upper bracket seeding, GameLab made quick work of TNC Neo, registering their third straight win via a 2-0 sweep.
They sit atop of Group A with 28pts. GameLab will conclude its season against Group B leaders Echo Proud who have not lost a series since Week 3.
Meanwhile, Nexplay Evos Tiger Cubs forced a triple tie for the second to fourth spots in Group A after finishing their season with a fifth straight win courtesy of a 2-0 sweep of ZOL Esports.
They concluded their season with 19pts on an 8-5 win-loss card. The Tiger Cubs though have a slim chance of making it into the next round, needing Blacklist Academy and RSG Ignite to fall to 2-0 losses against ZOL Esports and Smart Omega Neos, respectively, on Thursday.
