M5: AP.Bren takes down Geek Fam, arranges fated match with Onic

AP.Bren has forged the much-anticipated upper bracket finals head-to-head against Onic Esports after putting away Geek Fam ID, 3-1, in the upper bracket semi-finals of the M5 World Championship Knockout Stage on Tuesday at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City.

Both AP.Bren and Onic will take a three-day break before they square off on December 16 to dispute the first ticket to the grand finals.

It was a dominant display for AP.Bren throughout the series save for a Game 2 loss where Geek Fam pulled off an equalizer.

“It was a bad draft from us, especially from me kasi ako yung nagcall ng mga picks namin. Nagreorganize lang kami ng mga hero choices namin nung Game 3. Wala naman masyadong binago yung draft nung kalaban, kaya ayun nanalo na,” said coach Vrendon “Vrendon” Pesebre on their Game 2 loss and how they approached Game 3.

AP.Bren dominated Geek Fam in Game 1, leading by as much as 12k on the net worth before cruising to the opening win in the 22nd minute thanks to Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo’s (Mathilda) nifty initiation as he took the game MVP award with a 5-0-14 KDA.

After Geek Fam equalized, AP.Bren stepped on the gas in Game 3 and conceded only two deaths all game long while taking 11 kills for a comfortable win by the 15th minute and reaching match point, 2-1.

The Hornets did not let up as they posted a mammoth 12-1 kill score in Game 4 to close out the series.

Geek Fam will head to the lower bracket and will face Philippine representatives Blacklist International.
