Liyab headlines teams advancing to second phase of Sibol WR tryouts

Liyab Esports spearheaded the seven teams that qualified for the second phase of the Sibol League of Legends: Wild Rift national team tryouts, Friday night.

Nigma Galaxy, GIGA, LF Adoption, and Liyab secured their slots in the second phase by topping the first phase through identical 3-0 records.

Meanwhile, Fervent Esports, GrindSky Esports, and Kosa Nostra salvaged their slots by edging out DCR in the battle for 5th-6th place.

The seven teams from the first phase of the qualifiers will join Fennel Adversity — the lone direct invitee in Wild Rift — in the playoffs.

A total of 30 teams took part in the first phase, which also featured notable squads such as Good to Great, Cerebrum Wildrift, Sunsparks, and DR Esports.

Team Secret, the highest-ranked Filipino squad, did not participate in the festivities which will determine who will represent the Philippines in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. The team said that their qualifiers for the worlds coincided with the event.

The playoffs will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday.
