Laurenz “Lift” Ruiz, the head coach of TNC, took full responsibility for his team’s disappointing start to the MPL Philippines Season 11.
The Phoenix army failed to secure a single match win in the first two weeks and found themselves at the bottom of the standings.
Coach Lift acknowledged that his mindset was not in line with that of a coach, which he believed was a contributing factor to their poor performance.
“Isa ako sa naging factor sa pagkatalo nila. Yung mindset ko, hindi pa siya as parang pang coach,” Coach Lift told the members of the media.
During an interview with members of the media, Coach Lift expressed his gratitude towards the TNC management for keeping him focused on their goal this season.
He recognized his shortcomings as the team’s top tactician and accepted responsibility for their poor performance.
“Netong week, narealize ko at thank you nga pala kay Coach 413 na nagparealize sakin and sa buong TNC organization, kung ano ba ang dapat kong gawin as head coach,” he said.
Despite their poor start, the TNC team managed to secure their first win of the season in Week 3 with an impressive 2-0 sweep of Onic Philippines.
Coach Lift believes that the team has finally found its groove and is confident that they can build on this momentum as the season progresses.
“Para sakin, nahanap na namin yung (winning) formula.”
