Lamar Odom to reinforce Mighty Sports in Dubai tourney

Mighty Sports Philippines are coming back in a big way in 2019.

For the second time in three years, the club team will represent the Philippines in the Dubai International Basketball Tournament.

And headlining the squad, coached by Charles Tiu, is two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom.

For him, this will be the 39-year-old’s best chance to show that he can still compete at a high level.

“It’s been a minute since I’ve professionally competed and I hope to be as explosive as I used to be,” Odom, who last played in the NBA back 2014, said in an Instagram post. “I was hoping to be ready for the Chinese CBA earlier this year but I didn’t feel that I was physically were I wanted to be.

“I needed more time to recover from my multiple strokes and hearts attacks. I’m not giving up and going in full force.”

Last year, San Beda-Pilipinas went 0-4 in the highly-competitive tourney.

On the other hand, Mighty Sports went 1-5 in Dubai back in 2017.
