UP Lady Maroons dedicate CGS title to late booster Dominic Sytin

The University of the Philippines Lady Maroons were not only playing to claim the PSL Collegiate Grand Slam title. They were also playing for justice.

As the Lady Maroons celebrated their thrilling four-set win over the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses in the Finals, they donned black stickers with #JusticeForSirDom on their jerseys instead of the usual championship shirts.

Just last month, United Auctioneers Inc. Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sytin was gunned by an unknown assailant in Subic. As of writing, police have only produced sketches of the suspect.

Aside from being a staunch supporter and a constant presence in UP matches, Sytin was known for his agreeable nature.

Tots Carlos, who fondly calls Sytin “Tito Dom”, paid tribute to the late UP booster.

“Grabe, sobrang laki ng tulong ni Tito Dom sa amin ng team. So yung championship na ito, pinilit talaga naming kunin. And yun nga, sabi ni coach, the motto today is fight, kasi yun din naman lagi ang sabi ni Tito Dom eh. Okay lang matalo, pero lumalaban,” the graduating Lady Maroon shared.

“So ayun, with the fight that we did today, good results naman.”

And now, the Lady Maroons are praying that justice will prevail.
