Jayson Apolonio will still remain with La Union in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go National Basketball League-Pilipinas.
This comes in the wake of Pasig putting the reigning NBL Defensive Player of the Year on its roster for the upcoming 2021 Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Invitational tournament.
“Jayson Apolonio is committed to NBL and Team La Union- Paower,” read the statement of La Union Provincial Board Member and PAOwer team owner Paolo Ortega. “We deny the inclusion of Mr. Apolonio and his participation in any other professional leagues.
“To date, Mr. Apolonio is committed to play with Team La Union Paower and the NBL.”
La Union will begin its best-of-three finals series against Pampanga this weekend.
Apolonio, a product of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, is one of the pillars of La Union in the NBL.
This season, the 26-year-old versatile forward has been averaging 16.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.
