Kobe Paras has off night as Niigata suffer seventh straight loss in B.League

The woes of Kobe Paras and Niigata in the 2021-22 B.League season continued.

Albirex suffered their seventh straight loss by the Ryukyu Golden Kings in a 75-86 defeat, Saturday at the City Hall Plaza Aore Nagaoka.

Paras had his worst shooting game in 10 outings, going just 3-of-13 from the field for seven points — his third single-digit outing in the last four games. The 6-foot-6 winger also had four rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

After a close first half, the Golden Kings were able to control the game in the third quarter, gaining a 66-54 lead entering the final frame.

It was all Ryukyu from there as its lead would only go down to as low as eight, 73-81, after a Rosco Allen bucket with 1:15 left.

The Golden Kings, who rose to 8-2 in the west, was led by the duo of Dwayne Evans and Keita Imamura.

Evans got 26 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile Imamura, who averaged just 7.4 points prior to the game, had 23 points on four treys.

Ex-Meralco import Allen Durham tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Hayato Maki added 12 points — all from three-point country.

Albirex, who dropped to 2-8, were led by Allen who had 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

South African import Tshilidzi Nephawe had 14 points and five rebounds while Jeff Ayres added 10 points and eight rebounds. Shun Watanuki also had 10 points.

The two teams face off again tomorrow at 4:05 PM.
