B.League: Thirdy Ravena takeover not enough as San-En swept by Shibuya

Thirdy Ravena’s late explosion was not enough to lift San-En past Shibuya, instead absorbing an 80-91 loss in the 2021-22 B.League season, Sunday at Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall.

Playing just four minutes in the first half after incurring two fouls while committing a lot of errors, Ravena made it up in the endgame for NeoPhoenix.

Ravena scored 11 of his 13 points in the final quarter. However, he was not able to get support from the rest of San-En.

After a Ravena basket with 8:39 left in the game, the Sun Rockers went on an 8-0 spurt to turn a two-point lead into a 76-66 advantage midway through the quarter.

With all his might, Ravena tried to keep San-En afloat but triples from Kaito Morizane and Kosuke Ishii proved to be backbreakers.

Shibuya, who went up to 8-3 in the east, saw five Sun Rockers score in double-digits.

Josh Harrelson led the way for Shibuya with 21 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, and three assists.

Morizane had 18 points – all from downtown – while James McAdoo and Max Hisatake added 13 points each. McAdoo also had seven rebounds.

San-En, who dropped to 3-8, was led by Robert Carter who had 20 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Meanwhile, Justin Knox scattered 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting with six rebounds and two steals.

Yusei Sugiura also chipped in 14 points as Elias Harris missed his second straight game.

Ravena and San-En will host Matt Aquino and Shinshu on Wednesday at 6:05 PM.
