Kim Mangrobang glad athletes like her are given opportunity to be PBA muses

Meralco turned on the lights in its campaign in the 2022-23 PBA Season with somebody who knows a thing or two about championships.

Kim Mangrobang – five-time gold and one-time silver medalist in the Southeast Asian Games – represented the blue and orange, Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum during the opening ceremonies for the brand new season of Asia’s first pay-for-play league.

“Super happy ako na kinontact nila ako. Actually, nagulat akong kinontact nila ako kasi akala ko, para maging muse sa PBA, you need to be a beauty queen, model, or actress,” shared Mangrobang with reporters after the glitzy and glamorous parade of players and celebrities that included TNT endorser Sue Ramirez as well as Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee.

“Pero super happy akong nabigyan ng Meralco ng opportunity yung athletes na kagaya namin to represent sports in this country.”

She is fresh off a strong showing in this year’s regional meet, where she took home a gold apiece in triathlon and duathlon.

Of course, she only reaped the rewards of her hard work – something she hopes Meralco could replicate in the newly commenced Philippine Cup.

“Super proud ako. Ang alam ko, lahat ng national athletes are hard workers and the Meralco Bolts are a really good and hardworking team,” she shared.

“I’m proud to be the Meralco Bolts’ muse.”

As for her own competition, Mangrobang will be bound for Alabama, U.S. on July 6 for a duathlon.
