Kiefer gets to chill as Shiga routs Kyoto to remain in B.League West top


Kiefer Ravena no longer needed to play in the final frame as Shiga took a dominant 95-72 win over Kyoto to cap Week Three of the 2021-22 B.League season, Sunday at Kyoto City Gymnasium.

Unlike their 84-83 triumph yesterday, the Lakestars had complete control of the contest.

For his part, Ravena played just 15 minutes in the game, finishing with a line of six points, four rebounds, and three assists, while going a plus-15.

Still, it was Ravena who guided the Lakestars in a huge third quarter explosion.

Down 48-46, it served as a wake-up call for Shiga as it went on a 24-3 spurt to gain a commanding 70-51 lead.

Shiga would not relinquish the lead, capturing its most impressive win of the young season yet.

With the win, Shiga went up to 5-1 in the standings, tied with Hiroshima on top of B.League West.

Sean O’Mara beasted underneath, finishing with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Ovie Soko had 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals as well.

Locals Reon Shibuta and Teppei Kashiwagura did some damage as well, having 15 and 14 points, respectively. Novar Gadson had 11 markers.

Former NorthPort import Justin Harper once again led the 2-4 Hannaryz with 20 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Tatsuya Suzuki chipped in 13 points.

Big will be Ravena’s next outing as he and the Lakestars will face Ray Parks and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins at Park Arena Komaki.
