The first game of the Korean Basketball League Finals between Rhenz Abando’s Anyang KGC and Seoul SK was held on Tuesday at the Anyang Gymnasium.
Unfortunately, Anyang KGC absorbed a 77-69 loss to Seoul SK, putting them at an early disadvantage in the best-of-seven series.
Seoul SK maintained a slim two-point lead over Anyang KGC at halftime, 43-41, but then went on a dominant third quarter where they scored 18 points to take a 61-54 lead before the final quarter.
Anyang failed to retaliate, giving Seoul SK an early advantage in the season-ending series.
Rhenz Abando, who started the game, played for 20 minutes but only ended up with four points, two rebounds, and an assist.
Omari Spellman’s impressive double-double performance of 24 points and 11 rebounds and Oh Sekeun’s 21 points were also put to waste for Anyang KGC.
On the other hand, Jameel Warney had a double-double of his own with 23 markers and 10 boards, contributing to Seoul’s win. Kim Sunhyung also chipped in with 20 points for the Knights.
The second game of the Finals is scheduled to take place on Thursday at the same venue.
This is a crucial game for Anyang KGC, as a loss in Game 2 would put them in an even more challenging position in the series.
