Prior to the M4 World Championship, Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno made it known that he wants to reclaim his spot as the top jungler in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang professional scene.
And the 18-year-old jungler definitely walked the talk when he led ECHO to convincing victories over Albert “Alberttt” Iskandar’s RRQ Hoshi and fellow Filipino Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol’s ONIC Esports.
However, it seems like the former M-series MVP had a change of heart.
When asked if he considers himself the best jungler in the world just moments after leading ECHO a 3-1 win over ONIC Esports in the upper bracket semifinals, KarlTzy said he doesn’t care about individual titles anymore.
Instead, he gave members of the press a wholesome answer.
“I think we’re the best team. I’m a team player now and I don’t care about stats or [the] MVP [award]. I’ve been there,” said Karltzy during the post-game press conference.
Known as one of the best assassin users ever since he stepped foot on the MPL stage, KarlTzy took a backseat earlier this year and finally embraced utility junglers such as Fredrinn, Akai, and Barats, just to name a few.
The change definitely helped ECHO as they reached the grand finals of the MPL Philippines Season 10 where they eventually lost to Blacklist International, the team who popularized utility junglers, in six games.
KarlTzy’s mastery of the role was in full display as well in the M4 World Championship, steering ECHO to a five-game unbeaten run en route to the upper bracket finals where they will face the defending world champion for the first ticket to the finals.
The much-anticipated rematch of ECHO and Blacklist International will take place tomorrow, Friday at 8:00 PM.
