Kairi on going up against KarlTzy again: ‘Sana mabigyan kami ng assassin’

PHNOM PENH – Five months after their much-anticipated showdown in the M4 World Championship, Filipino junglers Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol and Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno are once again set to cross paths.

Kairi’s ONIC Esports, who recently eliminated EVOS Legends in the quarterfinals via a sweep, will take on KarlTzy and ECHO in the semifinals of the 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup later today at the Aeon Mall Mean Chey here.

Both players are considered among the most mechanically skilled players not just in the Philippines but in the world as well.

The two-time MPL Indonesia champion said that he is looking forward to facing KarlTzy again and hopes that they can finally have the assassin duel they have been waiting for since M4.

“Sana mabigyan kami ng assassin kasi chinallenge niya ako nung M4 e kaso hindi namin nalabas, so sana mapagbigyan kami ng assassin versus assassin,” Kairi recalled.

“Galingan natin, Karl. Sana malabas natin pareho yung lakas natin para mapakita natin na malupit talaga yung Pinas, saka galingan lang natin,” he added.

The last time these two teams met was back in the upper bracket semifinals of M4, where ECHO grabbed a 3-1 win on its way to the upper bracket finale.

Kairi vowed to make the most out of his second shot at ECHO and help ONIC Esports reach the finale of Moonton’s mid-season international tourney.

“Actually, gigil talaga ako sa lahat ng laban e. Sana makabawi kami at sana mabigyan namin yung audience ng magandang fight saka sana makabawi kami sa [ECHO].”
