JJWC: Kimberly Custodio, Ochoa earn world championships

Two Filipinas once again shone brightly on the biggest stage of jiu-jitsu.

Kimberly Anne Custodio and Meggie Ochoa ruled their respective divisions in the 2022 JJIF Jiu-Jitsu World Championship held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Custodio took gold in the women’s minus-45 category, escaping Thailand’s Kacie Pechrada Tan, 6-4, in the final.

Custodio defeated UAE’s Hamdah Al Shkeili (14-0) and Thailand’s Sakaew Tadaporn (14-0) before being tested by Tan in the finale.

Meanwhile, Meggie Ochoa ruled the minus-48 division, capped by a 2-0 win over Canada’s Vicky Hoang Ni Ni.

Team Pilipinas ended the competition at fourth overall thanks to the two golds.
