Grethcel Soltones is in danger of missing Petro Gazz’s Game Two bout against Creamline in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference finals.
Soltones hurt her right knee in the fourth set after attempting to receive Tots Carlos’ spike which tied the tight fourth set at 21-all.
“Yeah, kasi kahit ano pa yun, AC[L] or MC[L], mahirap na humabol,” said Petro Gazz head coach Jerry Yee. “Walang ano e, the following day game na agad.
“We will schedule MRI tomorrow morning,” he added.
Petro Gazz, despite a brave stand in the fourth set, fell in four sets, 16-25, 25-23, 12-25, 30-32 to Creamline in the finals opener.
With Soltones’ possible absence in the do-or-die match, Yee is turning to Jonah Sabete to fill up the huge hole left by the 26-year-old outside hitter.
“Similar role, we have Jonah [Sabete]. So sana mag-step up si Jonah,” said Yee.
“Nakita naman natin medyo jittery ng konti pero andito na e, may tao naman tayo to replace yung mga first stringers and we have tomorrow to train a little, review a little, so sige lang laban lang,” he added.
The 2017 PVL Open Conference Finals Most Valuable Player still finished with 12 points in the loss while Sabete had 11 points.
Game Two will be on Friday, 6:00 PM at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
