Every time Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado steps into the ONE Championship Circle, he excites fans in attendance, and he might have his partner, Chesla Nuval, to thank for that.
Miado’s girlfriend not only supports his endeavor; she actually competes, too, which makes her more understanding of “The Jaguar’s” path to greatness.
“She is a martial artist and a fighter,” Miado said. “It’s a big thing for me, and it’s a very good feeling because it makes things easier for us. Since she is a fighter, she understands the situation that I am in and the things that I am going through.
“We’re always together in the gym, training in the fields, or cross-training [in general]. Wherever I train, she goes with me. That’s one of the ways that we bond, from our travels to the gym up to when we train.”
Their love story started back in 2018 in the UGB MMA gym, where both of them train, and the 27-year-old said it did not take long for Nuval to capture his eyes.
“I met her back when she joined our team. She was supposed to fight in Korea, so that’s where we met and where we started,” Miado said.
“What got my attention was how nice she was, how understanding she was, and, of course, she was pretty.”
So it does not come as a coincidence then that Miado’s biggest win, an 89-second knockout of Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke at ONE: Iron Will, came when their love story was blossoming.
“She has been with me since my first fight against Dejdamrong until now. She still works with me in preparing for future fights,” Miado said.
Such are the advantages of having Nuval by his side. Not only does he get a partner who understands, but he also gets a second set of eyes— particularly when he prepares for an opponent.
“What we do is we watch the previous match of my upcoming opponent and we study it together. We come up with combinations on offense that we think will work.“
