Jeonju KCC has found its Asian import.
And it won’t be Adamson University’s Jerom Lastimosa.
Filipino-Canadian guard Calvin Epistola will be the Asian import of the Egis for the rest of the 2022-23 Korean Basketball League season.
Jeonju KCC made the announcement on Thursday.
Just like Ethan Alvano of Wonju DB, Fil-Am Nation Select made the transaction possible.
Epistola, 26, is a 5-foot-11 guard who previously played for Canadian Elite Basketball League team Scarborough.
In 11 games played with the Shooting Stars, Epistola, whose parents are both Filipino, averaged 3.82 points, 2.36 assists, and 1.64 rebounds.
Epistola is one of the finest Asian guards to play in Canada’s U Sports league.
The 5-foot-10 floor general averaged 10.1 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in the five years he spent at University of Ottawa.
But in his senior year, Epitola dazzled, putting up numbers of 19.0 points, 3.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per contest, making it to the All-Canadian team.
He is the first player of Filipino Heritage to make it to the first team of U Sports.
Epistola will join an Egis team that is currently 12-13 in the standings, good for sixth place. KCC Jeonju is led by Ricardo Ratliffe, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Heo Ung, and Lee Seounghyun.
