Despite not being able to join the 2021 PBA Draft, Jason Brickman will still get to play in the big league.
Meralco has announced that it has signed the heady 6-foot floor general for the upcoming 2021 PBA 3×3 season.
“We’re looking forward to seeing his brand of basketball up close. He’s a veteran playmaker who’s proven himself internationally and we’re excited to have him on board,” said team manager Paolo Trillo.
Brickman, 29, was not able to submit his Recognition and Affirmation papers in time for the draft.
Still, it’s a steal for Meralco.
The product of LIU Brooklyn was only the fourth men’s player in Division I history to collect 1,000 career assists, finishing with 1,009.
After going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, Brickman played for Dynamo in Russia, Bayreuth in Germany, and Mono and Hi-Tech in Thailand.
In 2019, he signed with Alab Pilipinas but the season got short due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic.
