The PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters unleashed their A-game, as they pulled off an earthshaking 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18 upset of powerhouse F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix Saturday at the Alonte Sports Arena here.
Import Kendra Dahlke was again impressive, towing the Power Hitters to the impressive victory that extended their streak to three and raised their slate to 6-4.
Dahlke tallied 19 points and 10 excellent receptions, while fellow reinforcement Grace Lazard chipped in 18 for PLDT.
Local stars Aiko Urdas and Joyce Sta. Rita also stepped up, finishing 11 and 10 markers, respectively, in the match that took one hour and 47 minutes to conclude.
“Nagtiwala kami sa isa’t isa,” said PLDT setter Jasmine Nabor. “Naging effective ang game plan ni coach dahil dito.”
PLDT capitalized on F2 Logistics’ sluggish start, with Dahlke and Lazard delivering the goods in the opening salvo.
The Power Hitters sustained their momentum, putting up a 6-0 lead in the second set. But Lindsay Stalzer and Rebecca Perry then scored back-to-back points and hand the Cargo Movers the lead, 13-12.
Tied at one set apiece, PLDT regrouped and regained composure to take an 8-0 advantage, and held on to take the third set. PLDT then broke loose from a close 8-4 contest in the fourth set, as they widened the gap, 11-5, and pulled away to hand F2 Logistics their second loss in nine matches.
Stalzer finished with 21 points. Ara Galang had 11 and Perry added 10 for F2 Logistics, who absorbed their second loss in nine outings.
