La Salle products Jamie Malonzo and James Laput will soon submit their requirements to formalize their entry into the 2021 PBA Draft.
Titan Management Group’s Managing Partner PJ Pilares confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
Out of the two, many predict Malonzo as a lock to be top two in his class.
Malonzo, a 6-foot-7 swingman, went to Highline Community College during his first two years in college.
He then transferred to Portland State, averaging 6.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game in 63 games played there.
After getting his degree, Malonzo moved to the Philippines, becoming a one-and-done with La Salle. He averaged 15.77 points, 9.92 rebounds, 1.62 assists, and 1.08 steals per game that earned him a spot in the UAAP Season 82 Mythical Team.
Laput also played with Malonzo in La Salle.
After three years in Young Harris that saw him play sparingly, the 6-foot-9 Fil-Australian enrolled in La Salle for a one-and-done stint.
Laput played just seven games because of a freak injury he sustained in practice. He averaged just 2.57 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
Laput was able to show what he was capable of during the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup, where he played for Big Boss Cement-Porac.
