Hubert Cani led the Cavite Ballers to a 92-78 win over the Caloocan Executives during the opening day of the National Basketball League (NBL) Black Arrow Express-Presidents Cup at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Cani made his presence felt in his NBL debut with a near double-double, scoring 26 points and grabbing nine rebounds to lead the Ballers to the win in the opening game of Season 3’s first conference.
Riordan Jacob Galicia had 20 points and 11 rebounds as Kriss Gurtiza and Mark Velasco tallied 10 points apiece in Cavite’s victory.
Meanwhile, the Camsur Express and La Union Paower beat separate foes last Sunday at the Philadelphia High School gym in Quezon City to also open their Presidents Cup campaign on a winning note.
Jonathan Del Rosario had 16 points including three triples, and Ronn Romana had 15 points to lead the Express to a 92-90 victory over the Quezon City Defenders.
The Paower, one of the expansion teams of the league, soared to a 109-92 victory over the Zamboanga Valientes. Mitchelle Maynes had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Paower, who led by as many as 27 points in the contest.
