Ken Holmqvist will be leading the charge for Barangay Ginebra in the much-awaited PBA 3×3 inaugurals on November 20 at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The 6-foot-8 big man heads the six-man crew that also has fellow FEU product Hubert Cani, Jollo Go, Jojo Cunanan, Dennice Villamor, and Mikey Cabahug.
Head coach is Kirk Collier.
Holmqvist will have himself an opportunity to show his wares after barely seeing action in the 2021 Philippine Cup. There, the Gin Kings lost the throne.
The 27-year-old was the Barangay’s 12th overall pick in last March’s Rookie Draft. However, he only played for a couple of games in the last semi-bubble.
He will also have the chance to learn more about the halfcourt game from one of his teammates in Cunanan, who has experience in the emerging discipline.
The 31-year-old shooting guard, who is close to Ginebra legend Jayjay Helterbrand, represented Vigan in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup back in 2019.
Ginebra will have a good mix of youth and experience with former college standouts in Cani and Go. They join Villamor and Cabahug.
Cabahug, the son of PBA great Elmer, and Villamor were actually draft selections by the ball club a few years ago.
