It took three years, but Geje Eustaquio finally got his vengeance.
The former ONE Lightweight World Champion picked up a third round technical knockout win over Toni Tauru, Friday, during Masters of Fate held at SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Squaring off with 2:49 left in the third round, Eustaquio threw a spinning body kick that caused the Finnish fighter to crumble. It was Kevin Belingon-esque.
“I was inspired by Kevin in throwing that spinning kick. We’ve been training that a thousand times in the gym,” said the 30-year-old Baguio-native, who raised his slate his slate 13-8.
It was a huge bounce-back win for Eustaquio after losing two of his last three fights — including a knockout loss to Yuya Wakamatsu last August 2.
“For the Team Lakay bashers, what about that?”
Tauru previously defeated Eustaquio during their fight meeting with a first round submission win back in December of 2016. He fell to 11-8-1.
Earlier in the night, two-sport ONE Atomweight World Champion Stamp Fairtex gutted out a unanimous decision win over Bi Nguyen (5-5) to go to 3-0.
Fairtex announced that she was ready to take a third world title after the bout.
In the other bouts, Li Kai Wen (10-4) flattened Paul Lumihi (7-4) with an uppercut at the 2:39 mark of the first round in a bantamweight MMA bout;, Yoshitaka Naito (15-3) outlasted Pongsiri Mitsatit (10-4) in straiwweight action; while Kongsak PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym (184-39) defeated Han Zi Hao (61-17) via unanimous decision in a bantamweight Muay Thai affair.
