Garvo Lanete has decided to hang up his sneakers at the young age of 32.
Lanete has decided to retire from the game after a stellar six-year career as a pro, as he is mulling a move to the United States to be with his wife Shelby Pearl.
And Lanete has had quite a career.
After a stellar five-year run in San Beda that saw him win four NCAA crowns, the 6-foot-2 guard became part of the Gilas Cadets from 2011-15.
In 2015, he was drafted as the sixth overall pick in the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft.
He would then play for Meralco and NorthPort, the latter being his last stop.
Lanete only played 10 games in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup, averaging 4.9 points on 26.7-percent shooting from downtown with 1.1 rebounds.
He fared better a season ago, norming 12.1 points on 44.4-percent shooting from downtown with 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in nine games played.
Bolick, a fellow Ormoc native of Lanete, paid tribute to him.
“Noong 2019, na draft ako sa PBA. Wala ako masyado kilala sa team noon at na-trade ka kaagad sa amin,” Bolick recalled.
“You took me under your wing at sobrang saya ko nun.
“Isa sa mga pride ng Ormoc City tapos same school pa. Thank you dong sa lahat, learned a lot from you on and off the court. Very good example as a true vet!” added Bolick.
