Luck was finally on Galeries Tower’s side — and with it, a golden chance to reshape its future.
The Highrisers struck it rich in Monday’s 2026 Premier Volleyball League Draft Lottery at the TV5 Media Center, clinching the first overall pick after entering with just a 30-percent chance of landing the top selection.
Represented by last year’s second overall pick Jean Asis, Galeries Tower defied the odds in a draw supervised by PVL commissioner Sherwin Malonzo and Games and Amusements Board chairman Atty. Manuel S. Plaza III.
“Super happy ako kasi alam mo ’yon, kami ’yung nabigyan ng chance na pumili na una sa draft pick,” said Asis. “Kasi iba yung feeling na kayo yung nauuna eh kasi may choice talaga kayo. Yun, happy ako for the team.”
With the top pick, Galeries Tower now holds the opportunity to select the most coveted prospect in the pool — Alyssa Solomon, who headlines a 42-player class.
Capital1, which held the best 40-percent odds, slid to second overall pick after previously securing the top selection in last year’s draft that saw Bella Belen go first overall. Choco Mucho will pick third, followed by ZUS Coffee at fourth.
The rest of the draft order features Akari, Nxled, Farm Fresh, PLDT, and Creamline.
A total of 42 prospects will take part in the Draft Combine from May 28 to 29 at the Gameville Ballpark in Mandaluyong City, with other notable names including Niña Ytang, Bernadett Pepito, Camilla Lamina, and Tin Ubaldo.
“I’m happy to know that every year, our first pick changes. With the new players that entered the last minute, I’m excited for the teams this year,” said Malonzo.
Applicants may still withdraw until June 1, two days before the draft proper at Novotel Manila, which is supported by Buffalo’s Wings and Things, Ibis Styles Manila, and Gameville.
